Snow advisory issued

|

The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory until 4 a.m. Friday for Delaware and nearby areas.
Snow squalls are expected to deposit 1 or 2 inches of snow this evening as an arctic cold front drops through the area. Although snow accumulations are not expected to cover all areas tonight, many areas will see a coating, the service said.
The snow will rapidly drop visibilities in the heaviest squalls down to a quarter of a mile or less for a short period of time, about 5 to 10 minutes.
In addition, winds will gust to 25 miles an hour tonight. The winds, combined with cold temperatures, will cause wind chills to drop into the single digits. winds on Friday will be even stronger, with gusts as high as around 40 miles an hour expected.
The winds are not expected to cause any widespread damage. However, the winds may bring down a few weak trees and tree limbs, so isolated power outages may result.
