Another arson case near Laurel
The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office says a structure fire Saturday near Laurel was arson, the fourth set fire in the area in as many days.
The fire broke out at 8:54 p.m. in the 11000 block of Taylor Mill Road, northeast of the town.
When Laurel Fire Company, assisted by the Blades and Seaford fire companies, arrived they encountered heavy smoke.
Property damage was estimated at about $25,000.
Three houses, within 10 miles to 12 miles of each other, caught fire between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and 3 a.m. Thursday. Even though the fires destroyed the houses, damage was estimated to be very little because two of the homes were vacant and about to be demolished and the third has been uninhabitable for years, officials said.
The first fire was at Taylor Mill and Fire Tower roads. The second was at Wooten and Trussum Pond roads. The third was at Old Sharptown Road.
